St. Michael Catholic Secondary School is gearing up to celebrate Feast Day on September

29, honouring St. Michael the Archangel. The day brings together students, teachers, and

staff for a mix of faith, fun, and community spirit. From the morning mass to exciting

activities like inflatables, food, and the annual Terry Fox Walk, Feast Day is a highlight of

the school year that celebrates both tradition and togetherness.

The day begins with a special mass held at the school, bringing together students,

teachers, and staff to honour St. Michael the Archangel. The mass sets a reflective and

meaningful tone for the day, reminding the school community of the values and traditions

that Feast Day celebrates. Teacher Andrew Fontaine shared, “I think it’s an important

tradition because it brings the school community together and lets the students interact in

a fun and safe way while celebrating St. Michael.”

After mass, the excitement continues as students are given wristbands and prepare for a

day of activities. Grades 10 and 12 head out for the Terry Fox Walk, while Grades 9 and 11

enjoy time on the inflatables during Period 2. The groups switch for Period 3, ensuring that

everyone gets a chance to participate in both. After a lunch break at noon, students head

into Period 4, where the school gathers to watch the flag football game. At the same time,

the ice cream truck makes a special visit from 12:30 to 1:45, giving everyone a chance to

cool down with a sweet treat as the celebrations carry on.

For many students, Feast Day is not just about the activities, but also about the

chance to spend time with friends and celebrate as a community. Grade 12 student,

Christina Grieco shared, “Being apart of Gym leadership and helping run the event, it was a

great opportunity to see us come together as a school community and be a part of

something fun with a good cause.” Their words reflect the excitement and school spirit

that make Feast Day one of the most anticipated events of the year.

Feast day at St. Michael Catholic Secondary School stands as a meaningful

reminder of faith, unity, and tradition, leaving students and staff with lasting memories of

celebration and community spirit.
