As the second semester begins, our Eco Council has been working hard to ensure we have a cleaner and more energy conservant school. Lately they’ve been working on garbage sorting and weighing across the school, as well as efficient ways to help the school to recycle things like batteries and markers. This problem is bigger than just our school, because “it directly affects out earths health” says grade nine eco council member Ilana Fisher, they also state that “how much garbage we produce, proper sorting and proper disposal of certain objects directly affects effects how much goes into our land fills.” This is why learning and understanding how to sort our garbage and waste, as to help to reduce our growing piles of trash. The council has also been looking forward into the future to find ways to progress our schools green thumb, they are working to help clean up our gardens and plant new plants in our green house. Our eco council works hard to ensure our school does what it can to support our earth's ecosystem and the roles we play in its environment.
