October 20 to 24 officially marked St Michael’s annual Take Your Class Outside week, and it has been reported to be a success. As the air chills and the leaves fall, the time to be spent outside is rapidly diminishing. It is rather ironic, how most people spend half of Autumn complaining about how hot it is, and the other half complaining about how cold it is. It is easy to be inconvenienced, and this author is no exception, but the past week has made me slightly more appreciative of the calamity that is Canadian weather.
The major event of the week was the garden clean up, on Thursday October 23, where members from Eco Council helped to pull out weeds from the schools front garden. It went incredibly well, and the wet, grey weather was actually a benefit, as it made the weeds far easier to pull out. Take this as a lesson to always appreciate the small beauties in life, just as Eco Council's patron saint, Saint Kateri did.

When asked for comment on why the initiative was started, Mrs. Defaria shared that “Eco Council cleaned up the garden to care for our shared space and help nature thrive. It’s great to see students leading by example to make our outdoor spaces greener and more welcoming for everyone.”
This is a reminder to the school community that this will not be the last time Eco Council will be beautifying the garden. Stay posted for updates on when the next cleanup will take place and join your fellow peers in helping to maintain the health and beauty of the school grounds.
St. Kateri, patroness of ecology and St Albertus, patron of science, pray for us.
For the preservation and protection of the natural environment in its many forms, Lord hear our prayer.
