Did you miss the sounds of live music from our music program? Well the start of the school year is also the start of the Thunder Beats 2026-2027 year.

This year the music program has a lot of fun things planned. Many junior students even shared their enthusiasm for the upcoming music event. "The socials are really good to help bring the band together, and more socials would be very existing and beneficial for the upcoming years.” Starting with their annual music social and the senior band the program officially began. With many events lined up, including their music retreat, trip to the Toronto Symphony, competitions in both OBA (Ontario Band Association) and OVF (Ontario Vocal Festival), the movie night fundraiser, along with the staple music trip, this year to Montreal. Though the year has just begun the classes have already started to work tirelessly to ensure success at their competitions.

Some senior students shared their thoughts about the upcoming year, explaining how they are “very excited to teach new students, and share the music community with newcomers”. When it comes to the music program, it never hurts to try. The majority of their players came into the bands with little to no experience, and look how far they’ve come. Just one month in but our students in the music program are as excited for this year as ever.
